Get answers to common questions

Common questions about importing and exporting with Mexico customs.

What are the requirements to import/export a product?

In most cases, registration in the Importers/Exporters Registry is required. If you don't have this registration yet, we can guide you through the process.

Make sure you have the following documentation:
✅ Commercial invoice
✅ Packing list
✅ Certificate of origin
✅ Documents proving compliance with non-tariff regulations and restrictions

If you're missing any of these documents, don't worry - we'll advise you to keep everything moving without delays.

Do I need an importer's registry to bring products from abroad?

It depends on the product, but generally, yes, registration in the Importers Registry is required, and some products must even be registered in Specific Sectors. However, if your merchandise has fewer regulations, you can use our trading company and forget about registration.

How do I know if my product needs a special certificate or registration?

This depends on your product's tariff classification. We help you classify it and identify what's needed for fast, hassle-free importing. The tariff classification defines this requirement, making it easy to verify applicable non-tariff regulations and restrictions. Products like food, chemicals, or electronics may require permits from COFEPRIS, SEMARNAT, among others.

Additionally, to access tariff benefits under a trade agreement, in many cases it's necessary to present a certificate of origin.

What goods are prohibited or restricted for import/export?

⚠️ Currently, we cannot handle the shipping of:

- Alcohol
- Weapons
- Used vehicles
- Precious metals
- Personal items

This is not an exhaustive list. We can help you with many other products and verify if your merchandise is within our coverage.

What should I do if my merchandise is detained at customs?

We're sorry you're in this situation. It's important to evaluate if it's the best option; make sure your merchandise meets all requirements, as customs fees can exceed its value. If you need advice, we can help you evaluate the best option.

What are tariffs and how do they affect my merchandise?

Taxes applied to the import and export of merchandise, impacting their final cost. Send us your invoice, technical sheets, and we'll analyze the tariff classification along with associated costs.
